Bernadett Szitás’s powerful, informal visual world conveys depths that are both nature-inspired and supernatural through a unique approach and a bold, intense use of color. In the meditative process of creation, she unfolds an experience of freedom beyond space and time – an experience of the transcendent. Every image is an abstract landscape. The unfolding spaces, colors, and gestures are abstract imprints of personal inner events and impressions. The mapping of transcendent wholeness into colors and forms through the unconscious transformation of spirit and soul. The infinity of the cosmos and the individual’s sovereign cosmos, simultaneously created and conveyed in the work, give rise to a rich associative interpretation through the systems of form and space that build upon and feed off one another.

Bernadett Szitás’s visual world is spontaneous and free, though by no means random – just as a landscape is not random. At the same time, like any organic formation, it can be surprising, yet the validity of its existence leaves no room for doubt, much like a mountain towering before us. Biomorphic forms are brought to the canvas through brushwork inspired by dynamic, unconscious layers, at times with drips, or even a web of thin lines. The spontaneity of the creative process can be traced in the splashes, drips, and layering. The spontaneously emerging organizing principles manifest in the most varied ways, ranging from the central to the infinite, cosmic perspective that offers no stable starting point. The bold use of color, the vivid hues, and the emerging systems of form present the viewer with an imprint of the soul’s state – one that cannot be articulated in words.
